Community Support Officer(s) (25 Positions Available - Darebin and Surrounds)

These 6-month roles are full-time opportunities; however, Darebin supports flexible work and therefore part-time or job share opportunities may be considered for some positions. These roles are a Band 3A paying $34.16/ hour + Super and a monthly RDO. These are full-time positions based on 38 hours a week, located at various locations within the Darebin region and surrounds as they will be based at a matched partner organisation.

Darebin is home to one of the largest, most diverse communities anywhere in the State in terms of cultures, language (more than 118 languages are spoken), religions, socio-economic background, employment status, occupation, and housing needs.

These roles are based within the Equity, Wellbeing and Economic Development Department, an area of Council that works with community and service providers to develop and implement programs and initiatives that improve and enhance the welfare and wellbeing of Darebin residents. For some positions Council has partnered with external community organisations who will become the Host Organisation for a Community Service Support Officer employed under the Working for Victoria program. In partnership with Darebin City Council, the Community Service Support Officer will be located at the Host Organisation, to support and enhance their programs, activities and resources which contribute to the wellbeing of our diverse community.

The position requires a person who is team-oriented yet can work independently with members of the community. The incumbent will possess sound interpersonal skills, be respectful, non-judgmental and show initiative and adaptability within the guidelines of their work.

The successful applicant will ideally have previous experience in working with the diverse community in a group or individual setting and first Aid and CPR qualifications Level 2 would be advantageous but not mandatory. Post-secondary qualifications such as teaching, recreation, youth work, and social work, or currently undertaking studies in a relevant field OR relevant experience. Due to the nature of this role a current Working With Children Card is required or willingness to obtain one.

These positions will report to Community Service Support Crew Team Leader– Working for Victoria Program.

Corporate Officer(s) (Scanning & Digitisation x5 Positions Available)

These 6-month roles are full-time opportunities. This is a Band 3A role paying $34.16/ hour + Super and a monthly RDO. This is a full-time position based on 38 hours a week, located at Darebin City Council, Gower Street, Preston. There are five positions available:

x3 Corporate Officer- Information Generalist- these roles focus on the scanning and digitisation of documents and files for the various divisions and departments across Council.

x1 Corporate Officer- City Safety & Compliance- support the Corporate Information team specifically in the department area of City Safety & Compliance. This department covers Civil Compliance, Local Laws & Animal Management, Business Support & Performance Improvement, Planning Compliance and Traffic Enforcement.

x1 Corporate Officer- Planning- efficient and effective records and information management service to Council specifically for the City Development department: City Development including Level Crossings, Statutory Planning, Building and Health Protection with a focused-on Planning digitisation and scanning.

The Corporate Officer roles all focus on the scanning and digitisation of documents and files and ensuring that corporate records are maintained in accordance with corporate policies and procedures, industry standards and legislative requirements.

The successful applicants will have a secondary level education or equivalent supplemented with specific training courses and on-the-job training or ideally have previous experience in administration, scanning or documentation. Candidates with experience with records/information management environment with an enterprise-wide information management system would be highly regarded.

These positions will report to the Coordinator Corporate Information.

Safety and Wellbeing Advisor (OHS)

These 6-month roles are full-time opportunities. This is a Band 6A role paying $44.93/ hour + Super. This is a full-time position based on 38 hours a week, currently working from home; however, at times located at Council offices 274 Gower St, Preston VIC 3072 and may require some travel to other Council site locations. For this reason, we require a current driver’s license for this position.

This position is responsible for developing, maintaining and promoting the implementation of an organisational wide Safety Management System and positive health and safety culture; providing support and advice to improve safe systems of work, reduce and prevent workplace injuries.

Working closely with the Safety and Wellbeing Coordinator, the Advisor will be a go to person for expert Occupational Health and Safety advice and be responsible for maintaining and overseeing Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) and other relevant HR practices and procedures to ensure a safe, healthy and compliant working environment for Council employees, contractors and visitors in accordance with legislative requirements.

The successful applicant will have Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety/ Human Resource Management (or related) or lesser formal qualification with substantial relevant experience.

Candidates who have a qualification in facilitating Workplace Assessment and Training or an HR Generalist background would be desirable but not required.

This position will be reporting to the Program Lead, Work for Victoria and Redeployment and indirectly to the Coordinator Health Safety & Wellbeing.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Identified Position- Team Leader- Community Support Crew x 1

This is a Band 5A role paying $37.02/ hour + Super and a monthly RDO. This is a full-time position based on 38 hours a week. This role will be focused on leading a team of Community Service Support Crew within the Equity, Wellbeing and Economic Development Department, some of which will be located at various community partner site locations. The role will provide leadership, guidance and support to officers working both within Council and external community organisations.

In this role you will provide an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and demonstrate an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

The successful applicant will ideally have experience leading teams within a community, local government and/or private sector setting. Experience leading and developing a team to through to successful outcomes. This position will be reporting to Community Service Support Crew Coordinator – Working for Victoria.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Identified Position - Community Service Support, Darebin Youth Services x 1

The role of Community Service Support Officer – Youth Services will provide support to the Youth Services team to deliver programs which deliver positive outcomes for young people in Darebin.
