In Semester 2, 2017 La Trobe University is piloting an exciting extra-curricular program of support for undergraduate student teams to enter The Big Idea competition.

WHAT’S THE BIG IDEA COMPETITION?

The Big Idea is a national social enterprise business planning and pitch competition hosted by The Big Issue Australia from late October to December 2017.

Broadly, a social enterprise is a business intentionally trading to tackle a social problem and investing the majority of profits back into achieving its social mission.

Teams of students are supported to design, research and pitch their social enterprise idea for the right to represent La Trobe at the national competition finals in December.

WHAT SUPPORT CAN YOU ACCESS?

The Extra-Curricular Support Program runs from Week 3 - Week 9 of Semester 2 and offers:

  • Connection to external team mentor advice
  • Regular coaching sessions with The Big Idea Project Manager for La Trobe
  • Access to a supportive private Facebook Group and practical student learning resources
  • Priority Career Ready guidance on showcasing your experience in your Career Ready Advantage portfolio

If shortlisted, student teams will be invited to pitch before a panel of La Trobe judges at the La Trobe Judging Day on THURSDAY 26 OCTOBER, 2017
